RENÉ DANIËLS

René Daniëls (b. 1950, Eindhoven) studied at the Art Academy in Den Bosch (1972-76), developing as a painter inspired by Sigmar Polke, Georg Baselitz, and René Magritte. His intuitive process combined everyday observations with visual and textual elements, influenced by Duchamp and Picabia. Gaining recognition in the late 1970s, he exhibited internationally in the 1980s. A stroke in 1987 halted his career, but he resumed creating small works in 2006. His work remains influential, with retrospectives and collections in major museums like the Stedelijk and Tate.
