LUCIO FONTANA

Lucio Fontana (1899–1968) was a pioneer of Spatialism, redefining art through his "Concetto spaziale" series. His perforated (Buchi, 1949) and slashed (Tagli, 1958) canvases challenged traditional painting and sculpture. Born in Argentina, he studied in Italy and later co-authored the Spatialist Manifesto (1947), advocating for space and light in art. Fontana explored ceramics, neon, and immersive environments, influencing modern art. His radical approach led to global recognition, with his works becoming iconic symbols of contemporary art.
